七転び八起き, Nana Korobi Yao Oki, means fall down seven times get up eight. It describes persistence and is exemplified in the little Daruma doll who wobbles but wont fall down.

I think it might be better to say, “Fall down seven times, get helped up eight.” Sometimes we help ourselves, but mostly we get help from other people: parents, teachers, friends, strange monkeys. And we really do need that help. Nobody is perfect, nobody has all the answers. We can teach and learn from each other.
